A Child Allegedly Destroyed $1,300 of Makeup at Sephora, and I Am Unwell.

This past weekend, a customer snapped a photo of a situation at her local Sephora store, reporting quite the mess caused by a “naughty” child.

According to Facebook user Brittany Nelson, who runs the page Extraordinary Life Makeup Artistry, a small child caused over $1300 in damages on a Makeup Forever display, destroying tons of “expensive” products like it was finger paint.

Nelson shared a picture of the damage to Facebook, where it’s since gone viral.

Although she didn’t witness the happening herself, she saw the mom and child exiting the store as she was walking in. “It looked 100X worse in real life and I don’t work for Sephora. I was just walking in as the mom/kid were hustling out of there,” Nelson wrote in the post.

However, Nelson and her friend were able to find the culprit quite easily. She said to Insider, “We walked in right as a lady and her kid were hustling out of there. The glittery footprints helped us decipher it was a tiny human.”

In the post, Nelson calls for parents to shop for makeup alone, without their “tiny humans.” If need be, she says, implement a “hands in pocket rule” to prevent such damage.

However, she was quick to praise the workers at Sephora for their swift response, claiming that “In no time flat they calmed down their panic-mode faces, brought out a cart, whisked away that display, cleaned up the remainder and the floor.”

Many were quick to side with Nelson, asserting the child should have been watched more closely.

“To everyone minimizing this: it doesn’t matter whether the makeup is $3 or $2000, the damn kids destroyed someone else’s property. It is unacceptable! That’s the problem with today’s kids. No discipline or structure. I’m a teacher and I see kids get away with so many things because parents make excuses for them. The kids need to have consequences. PERIOD,” one commenter shared.

Shared another, “I have 5 children. There is not a chance in hell that would have happened by one of my children! They knew how to behave when in public! That mother should be absolutely shamed of herself!”.

However, many also criticized Nelson’s response claiming many parents aren’t able to afford the help Nelson claims they should be able to get. Wrote one, “Ummm as a mom of 2 with ZERO help or babysitter ever.. I don’t appreciate this post. Though I do teach my kids to behave & respect other people’s things.”

“Yes, this is absolutely horrible and that parent is an idiot for not watching their child, but for you to tell people they shouldn’t shop for makeup with their children, is ABSURD and disrespectful. Some parents don’t have the luxury of going places without their children. Extraordinary Life Makeup Artistry, you should be ashamed for making that statement,” wrote another.
