Gabby Giffords on Trump: "He is reckless, irresponsible and unworthy of the office he seeks.”

Former Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who survived a mass shooting in 2011, took to twitter to condemn his remarks, She described Trump as “reckless, irresponsible and unworthy of the office he seeks.”

“We call on him to renounce these comments, apologize to Hillary Clinton, and acknowledge that once again he has gone dangerously too far,” Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, said in a statement.

The Trump campaign hasn’t yet respond to a request for comment.

The GOP nominee has espoused this sentiment before. In May, at a National Rifle Association conference, Trump called Clinton a “heartless, hypocrite” who wanted to take guns away from Americans when her own body guards used them for her protection.

“So I think that, in addition to calling for them to name judges, we’ll also call them and let their body guards immediately disarm. OK, no they should immediately disarm and let’s see how good they do. Let’s see how they feel walking around without their guns on their bodyguards.”

Trump has intimated violence against Clinton in the past, joking at a rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina last month that if Clinton wins and gets to pick Supreme Court justices there’s nothing that can be done for proponents of the right to bear arms. “Although, the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”

The comment raised eyebrows, prompting a response from the Clinton campaign that officially accused Trump of inciting violence against the Democratic nominee and calling Trump’s words “dangerous.”

The Trump campaign at the time responded with their own statement, saying Trump was referring to “the power of unification” and calling upon the voting power of “Second Amendment people,” according to senior communications adviser Jason Miller.

Clinton has stated in the past that she has no intention of abolishing the Second Amendment. She has called for “commonsense approaches” to reduce gun violence, which on top of expanded background checks includes closing gun show and internet sales loopholes.

  1. Gabby,
Just because of your being shot in the head and surviving does NOT mean gun laws need to be tougher- you were shot by a mentally sick person as anyone who shots someone is so we, the LAW abiding people need guns to defend our selves! Stop using the sympathy the public has for you as a weapon to disarm us

    • I agree. No one is interested in Gifford’s biased opinion, any more than the idiots in the entertainment industry. After email, sex, impeachment, Clinton Foundation, theft of white house furniture, and other scandals, you are a fool to ever want a Clinton in politics.

  2. Hillary Clinton is for gun control. She always has been. Yet she has had armed guards since the 80’s.
Troops comment was not inciting anyone to shoot her. My take is she has grown so comfortable with her guards she doesn’t notice them or their guns. What would she feel like without them? I am sorry Gabby Gifford had her life and career destroyed but she is wrong ,SO WRONG on this one.

  3. This person has to be stopped . His elevator doesn’t go any father than 2nd floor. Trump is a danger too the united states. People look and listen to this fool. Every word out of his mouth is a lie. He is not capable of speaking the truth. I’m telling everyone I meet to not vote for this NUT>

    • Marylin dear: If there’s anyone in this race who’s not capable of speaking the truth it’s ‘BROOMHILDA THE FIRST & ONLY!” I don’t have to make a list of lies, do I? Just punch ’em up on YOUTUBE and you’ll see & here.

  4. I appreciate that Mrs. Gifford is gun shy after here experience, but she must remember that it was a professional with a gun that shot at her. If hot heads and criminals want a gun they can easily get them. Why disarm normal people and deny them the right to defend themselves if they are attacked.

She is wrong and Trump is right. Ask George Washington!!!

  5. Although my deepest sympathy goes to the Kelly’s for what happened to Gabby a few years back, I am shaking my head at the three descriptors she gave Donald Trump: reckless, irresponsible, and unworthy of the office. With that said, Gabby, how could anyone ever think of voting for Hillary Clinton? Those words describe Hillary and they are only the beginning of a whole list of reasons why SHE does not have the integrity and skills needed to be our president. Those who plan to vote for her evidently do not place a high value on integrity and character, not to mention that she does not have accomplishments as a politician…only failures. Those voting for her are only doing so because they themselves are liberal democrat. Their party loyalty is put above what is best for our country, our safety in particular. My head is still shaking.

  6. You can’t have it both ways Gabby. You’re either for gun control or against it. You sound like you just want the guns around that protect the elite. Doesn’t work that way. Gun control laws don’t work anyway. Look at Chicago. Sure not working for them. Criminals don’t obey the law. That’s why they are criminals. Disarming the general populace is not the answer. The death penalty for crimes committed with guns might help.
